Cacher Crossing Geocoin

Another design by Stephanie! This coin shows the difference between our crossing and that of a plain old unknowing muggle. Before geocaching our crossing may have only consisted of a crosswalk and now we are crossing a broken log over a waterfall just to find that ammo can! This coin features a silhouette of a father crossing a waterfall with his son and daughter to get to the cache, just like in our real life caching adventures it looks like the daughter has already spotted the cache!

We are currently working on a new geocoin that will be available for purchase the first of July. Here is a picture of one of the editions available. We are doing a few exciting things to help create a coin that look just like a real geocoin, we are going to be using translucent enamel for the flash portion of the coin. On the back side we are going to use a photo inlay that will create an even more simulated look of a real camera. This should be a pretty good looking geocoin once its finished. My wife Stephanie finally decided to take a shot at making her first geocoin. The coin idea came about from the wonderful things that you often discover while searching for a geocache. I am sure that most of you can relate to searching for a cache and stumbling upon something in nature that distracted you from your initial intent. This coin features translucent enamels for most of the coin except the bison cache, eye and the insects. The front of the coin as an epoxy layer over the magnifying glass to give it that realistic look. This coin is available in 3 regular editions with different eye colors and different cache container colors or in the four coin LE set that includes the LE "fall" version of this geocoin.

My wife has been painting for years; most of her paintings are of scenic landscapes. After she finished her latest painting we got to talking that we should offer some for sale in the store. Then the idea popped in my head to add a little twist and to tie the paintings more toward geocaching and the fun in hiding a cache. Each painting that we offer will be completed except for one final step. After you have chosen your painting you will then get to tell the artist where to hide the cache, you get to choose the location on the painting and you also choose the container type, size and look. After you have made your decision the cache will be added to the painting making it truly one of a kind and unique. Just to make things fun each painting is assigned a waypoint number and will include a print out of the name of the painting, waypoint and date that the cache was hidden! The Luminous Energy Geocoin samples showed up today, they turned out really well we are very happy with the way this coin turned out! They should hit the store no later than mid April, the coin will be 1.75" and 3.0mm thick available in antique bronze, silver and a third metal yet to be announced.

We are very excided about this geocoin, we have been working on it for several months now and have finally completed the die art and samples are being minted. This coin is molded after the Aztec Sun God Tonatiuh and the Aztec Moon Goddess Coyolxauhqui this coin will be appropriately titled Luminous Energy meaning light which is necessary to find all caches weather your guided by the light of the sun or the moon. This coin will be available around the end of March or early April.
